NFT might be the tech word du jour right now, with NFT sales hitting a record $25 billion in 2021, but there is still notable gender disparity to reckon with. According to a report by ArtTactic, female artists make up just 5% of sales on one of the biggest NFT marketplaces, NiftyGateway, while male artists accounted for more than 77% (16% were by unknown artists, and 2% were collectively created). It's clear that female NFT artists can struggle to receive the same amount of recognition as their male counterparts, and as a leading crypto marketing agency keen to promote equality and representation in the NFT ecosystem, we want to spotlight the top 8 female NFT artists to watch (some of whom we have been fortunate to work alongside) and highlight the impressive artwork they create.
Summer Wagner
US photographer Summer's body of work is hauntingly beautiful, and completely captivates us by masterfully blurring the lines of ethereal and eerie with its muted tones capturing otherworldly scenes. You can find her NFT photography on Foundation.
Paloma Rincón
A joy to look at, we love Mexican NFT artist Paloma's vividly playful juxtaposition of objects that jump between the physical and digital realms, combining stills, concepts and moving images. Previous clients include Google, Ikea and Coca Cola. Paloma's bold artwork can be found on Crypto.com amongst other popular NFT marketplaces.
Amber Vittoria
A serious female NFT artist to watch, New York City illustrator and poet Amber's bright fluid forms symbolise her relationship to femininity and societal expectations, leveraging ink, acrylics and colouring pencils as her medium. This 1/1 artist first entered the NFT world in 202, and now has several sold-out NFT collections under her belt, with collaborations including World of Women and L'Oreal Paris's inaugural NFT program. Find her NFTs on Open Sea and SuperRare.
Mae
Australian self-taught 3D artist Mae's isolated landscapes are highly sensory, provoking a real sense of serenity. Using art as a meditative process and as a means of escapism, Mae's surreal NFTs provide a dreamlike world for you to lose yourself in completely. Her work can be found on NFT marketplaces such as Makersplace, SuperRare and OpenSea.
Ivona Tau
An award-winning Lithuanian artist, Ivona's NFT artwork manages an impressive feat: her neon nightscapes appear to be photos but are in fact entirely created by generative AI, brought into being through training a GAN model (Generative Adversarial Networks) on her own photography collections. Her mission is to find and create emotion through AI, while exploring her inner states through the process. Her NFTs have been sold at Sotheby's, Artsy and Foundation.
Shay the Surrealist
A 23-year old surrealist artist and graphic designer making digital artwork since 2014, Shay creates hypnotizing compositions by manipulating stock photos of objects such as clouds, birds and flowers in combination with animals or human figures to signify growth and freedom. Clients include Mercedes Benz, Pepsi, Netflix and Warner Bros. Shay is prolific on the NFT scene and has had drops on OpenSea, Rarible, Nifty Gateway and many more.

Auriea Harvey
Auriea was an early adherent to crypto art, having made her first NFT in 2019. Her virtual and physical sculptures are constructed through extensive digital construction and 3D scanning, and draw on an amalgamation of influences: namely, her considerable experience in net art and video games, classic mythology, and her African American lineage. Her NFTs have been sold via Christie's and OpenSea alongside other crypto marketplaces.
